Zune 2.0 Software Folder.jpg Patch
This patches the zune software to look for folder.jpg instead of zunecustomalbumart.jpg
Since I use folder.jpg for my music, the new file name was very annoying since the software no longer saw any of my albumart.
Enjoy!
Zune 2 Software Folder.jpg Patch
UPDATE:
someone said that the software reported a version mismatch after he formatted his system, guess they updated the software and didn’t tell anyone? Anyway, here is an updated patch that skips crc/size checking and just patches anyway

make sure you kill all running zune processes or the patch wont be able to apply itself

Works great, with the no crc thing. They did put out a small update a bit after launch, so that was why.

you are the king of zuneland! i love you! i just bought a zune 80 a few days ago, and was completely disheartened with the idea of embedding all my mp3s with cover art. you are brilliant!

OMG MY HERO! I was about to return my Zune because of this. I wasn’t about to rename all my 700 album art for a Zune. <3

all my album pics are actually “Front.jpg”; i should be able to just edit it to look for Front instead of Folder right?

I’m getting the same error…did they change something? I installed this a while back and it was a life saver. Have since done a reinstall/rescan. now doesn’t work. poop.

You must make sure you kill all zune processes in task manager before attemping to apply the patch, otherwise the patch will not be able to modify the necessary file. Basically just kill everything with the word zune in it then try, you may also need to stop a service I’m not positive though.

2 Zune updates later and it still works! Just brilliant.
I just updated to Zune 3.0 and was able to get it working. Not sure if any of these steps were necessary but I took them just in case:
1) unplug zune and close zune software etc
2) kill any processes you can in task manager
3) in program files/zune rename ZuneNss.exe to something else (don’t delete)
4) in windows/system32 rename ZuneBusEnum.exe to something else (again, don’t delete)
5) Run the patch (i ran in the zune directory)
6) Rename ZuneNss.exe and ZuneBusEnum.exe back
7) Reboot
Its taking a while for the Zune software to recognize the images, but if I play the songs in the album it seems to always see the pics. We’ll see how it works out.
cheers

lol.. ok I noticed I just wrote, “2) kill any processes you can in task manager”. I meant processes that had the word ‘Zune’ in them!!!

Awesome work – it was THE most annoying thing for me.
Just wanted to add that the generic version of the patch still works with Zune 3.0 (which still ignores folder.jpg files). Remember to clear out the Zune art cache after to see the changes though (http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/zune-hacks-mods/16519-found-out-way-fix-your-zune-album-art.html).

I really don’t understand ‘why’ they still haven’t made the software scan for Folder.jpg also. I posted on the zune boards awhile back and one of the zune developers stated they were going to look into it since it made no sense to have the zune software use a totally different naming scheme for the thumbnails than all other software on the market, guess it never went through though.
FWIW you shouldn’t need to rename zunebusenum.exe, just make sure you kill all zune-related tasks in task manager before you attempt to apply the patch and it should apply successfully
